Safer and Healthier Visits
Modern, Fun Kids Dentist in Arlington, VA
Dr. Peter Markov and the team at VK Pediatric Dentistry only take x-rays when necessary. We follow a 'only when prescribed' philosophy which means we evaluate each child individually and only take x-rays if they are necessary based on cavity risk and clinical assessment. We follow the most current guidelines for radiology from the ADA and the AAPD.
Less Radiation With Digital X-rays
We use the most modern equipment on the market to ensure safety for your children. The systems we use, including digital x-rays, use up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays. They are quicker, electronically stored, comfortable and have enhanced quality. Exposure time using a small sensor in the mouth requires only a tenth of a second per x-ray. This helps limit radiation and allows us to take them quickly, even if your child is a little wiggly. This gives us essential information into your child's oral health without the risks associated with conventional x-ray methods.
BPA- Free, Allergy-Free
When is the last time you've checked the label of a dental material? Well don't worry, because we've checked them all. Some dental materials, including commonly used sealant materials, can contain BPA as an additive. We know the harmful effects this can cause. VK Pediatric Dentistry is proud to use BPA-Free products and requires certification for all products used in our office, including allergy-testing and nut-free facility distinctions. We don't cut corners when it comes to the materials we use and that means healthier, happier, and safer smiles.
Metal Free Crowns
We are proud to offer full ceramic crowns for kids. These crowns are made of solid Zirconia, a biocompatible material that is generally used in high-end, adult cosmetic dentistry. They provide both functionality and aesthetics in a single appointment. Each crown is made of an natural shade all-white Zirconia material that is strong, durable, and looks great in the mouth. These ceramic crowns are completely biocompatible and won’t make your child’s teeth sensitive to hot and cold. They are truly the best thing other than your child’s natural tooth.
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)
Dr. Peter is proud to utilize silver diamine fluoride (SDF) in his office and has extensively used it as a conservative treatment option for years with great results. SDF is a minimally invasive approach to treating decay in young children, difficult areas that are hard to isolate, or as a conservative option to try to maintain tooth structure without needing to use numbing or a handpiece. Although not every cavity would benefit from this treatment option, there are many instances where it's an ideal treatment choice and we're proud to provide it!
